Sometimes things take time.  John and Roger knew each other for years, but never played together.
When John decided it was finally time to put a band together, Roger was quick to jump aboard.  The singer/rhythm guitarist and drummer were in place.
After a long manhunt, they found Dusty on bass and Jordie on lead guitar and together they began the first incarnation of the band known as “Old Man Winter”.   O M W blended a unique mix of folk and rock into their original material.
After a few months together, they parted ways with Jordie and were once again searching for a lead guitarist.  Steve answered an ad and came aboard with his trademark sound, complimenting the band’s music perfectly.  Rechristening themselves after a monumental moment in rock n roll history, Newport Electric was born.
Their live shows have garnered rave reviews.  They are in the midst of completing their first studio album which will include staples of their live set. “The Way Out is In”, “Who Will You Follow?”, “Go Down Swinging” and “Milestone” will soon be on your hit list under ‘favourites’.
“Milestone” also won the band some free recording time at EMAC studios as it was voted in for best song in the most recent “Made in London” contest sponsored by 98.1 Free FM.
They are working hard to be your second favourite band!  Friend them on facebook/newportelectric, follow them on twitter @ n_e_band and check out their upcoming live dates on their new website www.newportelectricband.com
